Volunteer Requirements
All Volunteers for Norton Youth Baseball and Softball must be cleared through a CORI check and complete an Abuse Awareness Training provided by USA Baseball or a comparable training annually. As of January 1st each year, volunteers will be required to complete both of these tasks prior to working with any kids in the program.
Abuse Awareness Training provided by USA Baseball
All volunteers must complete an Abuse Awareness Training provided by USA Baseball or comparable training. The volunteer is responsible for submitting proof of training completion to the NYBS CORI Coordinator at [email protected].
To complete the Abuse Awareness Training provided by USA Baseball:
1. Go online to USA Baseball
2. Log in using your username and password, or Register an account (it is free)
3. On the courses webpage, select "Abuse Awareness for Adults" and click "Enroll"
Once you have completed the course, please send confirmation to [email protected]. A comparable course/training must meet the Safe Sport compliance standards as outlined by Little League.
Coaches and volunteers are encouraged to take other courses offered by USA Baseball, but this course is the only required course before volunteering with NYBS.
All volunteers must complete a CORI form prior to working with any of the teams or players within the league. Please follow the instructions below for filling out the CORI forms.
- There are 2 versions of the CORI forms attached to this page (Microsoft Word and PDF). Please use the most convenient one for you. We do not need both versions completed. Please note that there are 2 pages to complete on the form.
- The first page of the form must be signed by the applicant and dated.
- On the second page, please fill out the sections under “subjects’ information and current address” DO NOT FILL OUT THE SECTION BELOW SUBJECT VERIFICATION.
- Take a photo of the front of your driver’s license, state issued ID or passport and send the completed forms and picture to the following email address. [email protected].
