Thank you for volunteering for Norton Youth Baseball Softball!

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers for Norton Youth Baseball and Softball must meet the following requirements annually, starting on January 1st:

1. Complete TWO (2) separate background checks.
2. Complete an online abuse awareness training course sponsored by Little League.

These requirements must be completed every year, regardless of whether you’ve been screened in the past or have completed the abuse training online.

Norton Youth Baseball and Softball has a zero-tolerance policy regarding any coaches or volunteers who participate in league activities without meeting these requirements. We deeply appreciate our volunteers and could not operate without you, but the safety of our players is our top priority.

Background Checks (2)

1. CORI Check
   In compliance with Massachusetts law, all volunteers must complete and pass a CORI check before volunteering in youth sports. Instructions for completing the CORI forms are provided below.
2. Background Check through Little League
   As part of the Little League organization, volunteers must also undergo a background check through JD Palatine.
• After we receive your information as a coach, assistant coach, or volunteer, we will enter your name and email into the Little League portal.
• You will then receive an email inviting you to log in and submit your information to JD Palatine to complete the background check.

Abuse Awareness Training provided by Little League Baseball 

All volunteers must complete the Abuse Awareness Training provided by Little League Baseball. Once you complete the training, please submit proof of completion to the NYBS CORI Coordinator at [email protected].

To complete the Abuse Awareness Training:

1. Go to the Little League Baseball website. https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/abuse-awareness-training-course/
2. Log in using your username and password, or register a free account.
3. Complete the course.

CORI Form Instructions

All volunteers must complete a CORI form before working with any teams or players in the league. Please follow the instructions below to fill out the CORI form:

1. There are two versions of the CORI form available (Microsoft Word and PDF). You only need to complete one version. Please note that there are two pages on the form.
2. On Page 1, sign and date the form.
3. On Page 2, fill out the "Subjects' Information" and "Current Address" sections. Do not fill out the section below "Subject Verification."
4. Take a clear photo of the front of your driver’s license, state-issued ID, or passport.
5. Send the completed forms and photo to [email protected].
